American Red Cross is recruiting for blood donor ambassadors who can help welcome and engage blood donors, explain the donation process as necessary and assist with initial intake and handoffs through the blood donation process. The National Canal Museum is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help with the museum’s children’s program, Kids on the Canal! Volunteers should enjoy doing crafts and demonstrating planned activities to kids visiting the museum 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. every third Saturday of the month April to December. Tasks include setup/cleanup and interacting with kids and families as they visit. Training provided and clearances are required. Tour guides at the Kemerer Museum of Decorative Arts lead guests through the museum while presenting a lively and educational narrative about the changing styles of the decorative arts over more than three centuries. Tour guides answer visitors’ questions and help guests to step back in time as they learn about the exhibits. Training provided by Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites. The K-9 Kop Project is a 501c3 providing funding for K-9 units and educates the public on the needs of K-9 officers. Organizers are looking for a virtual administrative assistant to help for one to two hours weekly. Duties include making calls, email correspondence, assembly of packets/letters/marketing materials, maintaining contact lists, etc. Knowledge of Excel & PowerPoint a plus. Our food pantry serves over 200 families per month and runs solely on the assistance of volunteers. Northeast Community Center in Bethlehem is seeking volunteers to assist with food distribution on the second Wednesday of every month 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the food pantry. The Caring Place Youth Development Center in Allentown provides programs and activities designed to help young people overcome the pressures and limitations of their environment. They are looking for volunteers who can greet visitors, answer phone calls, maintain a neat and friendly front desk area for visiting families and help in the food bank Tuesdays and Thursdays. A one-acre garden, called the Easton Urban Farm, supplies fresh produce, as well as flowers, each summer to underserved neighborhoods. Three times a week, organizers rely on volunteers to prepare rows, plant, weed, compost, water, pick and bundle and transport veggies to food pantries and senior centers in Easton. They are looking for volunteers who can commit to the same day/time every week. Clearances are required. Orientation provided by The Easton Neighborhood Center Feb. 25. Work begins March 18. The Salvation Army, Allentown, is looking for volunteers to assist elementary school students in the after-school program with homework, reading support and to assist with arts and crafts. If you have a special skill to share, such as cooking, sewing, or crocheting, we would be able to incorporate that into the program as well. The program runs 3:15 to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday.
