First American Rescue Plan Act Funds to reimburse stormwater and infrastructure expenses

The Lower Milford Board of Supervisors Sept. 16 meeting began without public comment and with a change in the minutes. The fire police applicant did not arrive during the last meeting so that item needed to be corrected in the minutes.

Following the correction, the township treasurer’s report and September bills were read and approved.

In the administrator’s report, attention was brought to the Lower Milford Fall Festival, as planning and advertising continues. Furthermore, the fall newsletter was created and published. Information can be accessed at lowermilford.org.

The 19th annual Lower Milford Fall Festival will be held Sept. 25 at the Lower Milford Township building, 7607 Chestnut Hill Church Road, Coopersburg. It will operate rain or shine. To register as a vendor, go to the township website or call 610-967-4949.

It was announced seal coat work was completed on all roads. There was repaving at the Bellgate Road and Limeport Pike intersection. Repaving also was done at East Mill Hill Road and Kings Highway. Plus, there were trees removed from Yost Lane and Elm Road.

In new business, Resolution 2021–10 was put forward. This resolution adopts a revised disaster emergency plan. This mainly addresses damage and flooding during severe weather or natural disasters in the township.

Next, the minimal municipal obligation budget for 2022 was approved. An estimated $387,294 is for nonuniform employees. The municipal contribution is 6 percent.

The American Rescue Plan Act showed fruitful as the township received reimbursement for stormwater and infrastructure expenses from the past year. There was an $8,000 street sweeper charge that will hopefully be reimbursed as well, as announced by Township Administrator Emily Fucci.

A request was received from Coopersburg Borough asking for fire police assistance for the Coopersburg Halloween Parade. The parade will take place Oct. 17. This was approved by the board.

In correspondence, there was a fund request from both Meals on Wheels and Community Action Lehigh Valley.

Two appeal hearing notices were received – notice for 6269 Shady Drive, plus a notice for 6410 Hoffman Lane.

In public comment, a fire department representative asked about possible American Rescue Plan Funds for the fire department. Loss of income and equipment prices were the focus. Over $200,000 is still coming to the township. The board assured the representative work is being done to position the funds for what is absolutely needed.

In other business, complaints came from a resident about bright lights located on Hoffman Lane. The resident came in to complain about the heavy lighting flooding into his house from a neighboring property, which operates an automotive and landscaping business. A written complaint and photo evidence was asked for and a zoning officer will assess the exact complaint. Chair Supervisor Donna Wright said having each complaint in writing will help to quicken the process.

The resident felt frustrated, as he has verbally complained about this and other possible violations for months on the neighboring property. He said a person has come to the property several times to assess for violations and nothing has been done.

Following a short discussion on road conditions of other municipalities, the meeting was adjourned.

The next Lower Milford Township Board of Supervisors meeting will be held 6:30 p.m. Oct. 21 in the township building, 7607 Chestnut Hill Church Road.
