A 37-year-old Allentown man died following a house fire early Monday morning in South Whitehall Township, according to the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office.
Christopher R. Forsythe was pronounced dead at 5 a.m. July 13 at the scene outside a residence in the 2800 block of Helen Street. Authorities said the fire occurred in a reportedly vacant home.
Forsythe was recovered from the residence after the fire. An autopsy conducted Monday at the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office and Forensic Center determined the cause of death to be inhalation of products of combustion and thermal injuries resulting from the house fire.
The manner of death remains pending investigation. The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office, South Whitehall Township Police Department and Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal are investigating.
Multiple emergency response agencies assisted at the scene, including the Woodlawn, Greenawalds, Cetronia, Tri-Clover, Western Salisbury, Upper Macungie, Coplay, Catasauqua and Neffs fire departments, along with Cetronia Ambulance Corps.
The coroner’s office extended condolences to Forsythe’s family and thanked the firefighters, police officers, EMS personnel, dispatchers and other emergency responders involved in the incident.
