PHS track teams top Emmaus to go undefeated

The Emmaus track and field teams took on rival Parkland last week to close out the regular season. Both teams battled the unbeaten Trojans as closely as any team has this season.

But Parkland secured wins on both sides to cap undefeated regular seasons.

The Trojan boys won 10 of the 18 events, including all but three of the running ones, to secure an 85-65 victory. The Emmaus girls actually won more events on the day, but Parkland’s depth allowed it to pull out a 76-74 victory on the Hornets’ home track.

Parkland’s Radnor Rowlands (100- and 200-meter dash) and Colin McGuigan (1600- and 3200-meter runs) each won multiple events to pace the Trojan boys in their win.

Emmaus had a more balanced list of winners, including two of the three relay teams. Rien George won the 400-meter dash, while both the 400-meter and 1600-meter relay teams won in the running events.

Where Emmaus really shined was in the throwing events, with Robert Edwards (shot put), Cayden Fick (discus) and Nathan Quevy (javelin) all picking up wins. Maghil Wimberly took first in the triple jump, while Logan Conn won the high jump as Emmaus won two of the four jumping events.

The Emmaus girls were paced by two Hornets who each won three events. Madelyn McCartney headlined the running events by winning the 800-, 1600- and 3200-meter runs. Claudia Walls paced the jumping events with first-place finishes in the long jump, triple jump and high jump.

Emmaus also won two of the three relay events, as well as Heidi-Roxanne Orock (400-meter dash) and Marleigh Llewellyn (100-meter hurdles) picking up wins to round out the Hornets’ victors.

Parkland was led by multiple-event winners Dhaniya Miner (100- and 200-meter dashes) and Vanessa Ball (discus and javelin).

Both teams will compete in this week’s East Penn Conference Championships Tuesday and Wednesday at Whitehall High School.

For the Hornet boys team, last week’s loss was the first in a season that saw the team go 7-1 in dual meets. The EHS girls team went 6-2 in 2026.
