Girls lax goes 1-1 in districts

The Parkland High School girls lacrosse team did not qualify for the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference tournament, but was able to get into the postseason in the District 11 3A tournament and played two games, going 1-1.

The third-seeded Trojans defeated sixth-seeded Easton 11-6 last Friday evening at Parkland High School in the first round of districts.

It was the first victory in districts in the last three seasons for Parkland. The run ended in the next game as Parkland was defeated by second-seeded Pleasant Valley 13-6 in the semifinal round this past Monday.

In the victory over the Red Rovers, Olivia Esteban led the attack with a game-high three goals. Each of Lila Temchatin, Sam Schippell and Laura Volpe finished with two goals and Addie Winfield recorded two goals and three assists. Both Sydney Sensinger and Jade Caravello found the back of the net once. Audrina Stewart made five saves for the victory in net.

In the game with the Bears, PV held a 9-4 lead at halftime before finishing off the second half outscoring the Trojans 4-2 to take the game. Both Caravello and Schippell tallied two goals and Volpe and Sensinger added one each. Stewart finished with one save in goal.

Parkland finished its season 14-6 overall, its most wins since 2019. The Trojans will graduate eight seniors, including Milla Hahn, Zaina

Khdour, Abigail Marquardt, Emma Roseman, Brynn Snyder, Makenzie Spangler, Juliana Varano and Addison Winfield.
