Emmaus lax teams prepare for districts

Both the Emmaus High School boys and girls lacrosse teams had similar 2026 regular seasons with almost identical records, and both teams qualified for the postseason tournaments.

The EHS girls lacrosse team finished the regular season 11-7 overall and 6-2 in the conference, earning the three seed at EPCs. The Hornets fell to second-seeded Nazareth 13-7 last Thursday night in the semifinal round at Northampton High School. The boys lacrosse team went 10-9 overall and 6-3 in conference and were the fourth seed. It dropped a one-goal game, 14-13, to the top seed, Easton, in the semifinals last Wednesday night at Northampton.

In the girls game, the Blue Eagles used a strong second half where they outscored Emmaus 9-2 and kept the Green Hornets out of the net for nearly 20 minutes of game action, to pull off the victory.

The two teams traded goals in the opening quarter and were tied 3-3 after one, then Emmaus scored two of the three goals in the second to go into halftime ahead 5-4.

Nazareth opened the third quarter by going on a 5-0 run and then doubled up the Green Hornets in the fourth quarter, by scoring four goals to Emmaus’ two.

Avery Aquino led the attack with three goals, while each of Taylor Younker, Paige McClain, Ally Kusko and Sarah Gross found the back of the net once. Rylie Poll contributed three assists.

In the boys game, Easton had entered as the defending three-time EPC champions and had lost only one game all season, undefeated in conference play. But Emmaus had them on the ropes the entire game and was one goal short of winning.

The Green Hornets led 5-3 after the first quarter and then 8-6 at halftime. But the host Red Rovers turned it on in the second half and outscored Emmaus 5-3 in the third quarter to tie the score after three, and then scored three of five goals in the fourth to hold on.

Six different players found the back of the net for the Green Hornets, led by five goals and two assists from Anthony Attar. Dylan Maloney tallied three goals and three assists.

Greyson Schmidt recorded two goals and one assist and each of Reiken Bechtel, Avery Bohm and Alex Younker totaled one goal with Younker adding an assist. Liam Lewis finished with seven saves in net.

In the District 11 3A playoffs, on the girls side, Emmaus is set for the three seed and will take on the sixth seed, Freedom, in the quarterfinal round.

The Emmaus boys will likely be the fifth seed and take on the fourth seed, Nazareth, in a quarterfinal matchup.
