Celebrating 20 years
On a near-perfect-weather day, AfFORDable Pet Center, 2022 Main St., Northampton, held a hoedown May 16 to celebrate a milestone.
“We’re celebrating 20 amazing years, and you’re invited to the party,” the business said in promoting the event.
AfFORDable Pet Center offers pet food, pet care items, self-service grooming, training and more.
The outdoor event in the parking lot featured multicolored tents and vendor setups. There was a palpable energy and excitement, especially for the children encountering the animal petting area.
Two 5-month-old heifer calves, three lovable baby pigs, a cute bunny and two miniature goats were available for petting. Jim Ford and Kathy Geiger were promoting 4-H. He noted some people keep mini-goats in their homes as pets and the tiny pigs might grow to 500 pounds.
The 4-H pledge is “I pledge my head to clearer thinking, my heart to greater loyalty, my hands to larger service and my health to better living for my club, my community, my country and my world.” Call Jason Koehler at 610-554-8352 for more information about 4-H.
In the AfFORDable Pet Center, there was a setup with a warming light with a number of baby chicks scurrying around. Nearly everyone who passed wore a smile on their faces.
Attendees happily roamed around with their dogs, including Adraine Grossman, of Northampton, and her young dog named Oliver. They were at the table for Fromm Family Pet Food, a family business located in Wisconsin. Visit frommfamily.com for information about their products.
Inside the AfFORDable Pet Center was Erika Yob, of East Allen Township, with her cream-colored lizard named Alfie. Alfie was about 12 inches long with the calm demeanor of a meditating monk. Other patrons could touch and pet Alfie.
Foxy’s Cradle had a walk-in trailer with cats in comfortable cages that were offered for adoption. Cheryl Haas, of North Whitehall, and her team operate Foxy’s. Visit foxyscradle.com or Facebook for more information on how to adopt a feline.
Annamaet Pet Foods of Hatfield sold cat and dog foods and treats. A cheerful Maryalice Jansky, an East Coast sales manager, interacted with pet owners seeking healthy treats and foods for their beloved pets.
Caidyn and Sarah Greenway, of Northampton, enjoyed the festivities. They took pictures and looked forward to getting a bite to eat and refreshments.
Danielle Ford, of the Ford family that owns AfFORDable Pet Center, was present to assist in the store where needed.
She is also the Northampton Borough animal control officer and talked about feral cat trap, neuter and release programs and other activities to assist the welfare of animals.
