Six Trojans score in 42-0 win over Allen

After a couple of challenging weeks during the first half of the 2023 regular season, the Parkland High School football team had a bit of a reprieve in its latest game last weekend, shutting out Allen 42-0 last Friday night in an Eastern Pennsylvania Conference game at J Birney Crum Stadium.

The Trojans offense was on fire once again, spreading the wealth around. The defense was also stout in not allowing any points for the second shutout of the year.

“The team is motivated because we have goals in mind that require us to stay focused on one week at a time executing to the best of our abilities,” said assistant coach Mike Facchiano. “We need that effort and week of practice no matter who we are playing. The defense practiced throughout the week with intensity. As I said before, we have goals in mind that require us each week to build on what we did well and what we need to improve on.”

The Trojans scored 28 first-quarter points to take control of the game early on and empty the bench to rest starters and give experience to younger players. Six different players accounted for the six Parkland touchdowns, including Trey Tremba, Jake Beidelman, Leo Dauberman, Jendel Sanchez, Satoshi Rosenblum and Jude Ruisch. Beidelman’s, Sanchez’s and Ruisch’s scores came through the air from two different passers, including Luke Spang and Osmany Guzman.

“I feel it went well because you saw names in the box score who bust their butts all week long that got rewarded,” said Facchiano. “[Head] Coach [Tim] Moncman always preaches ‘next man up’ and they got to show what they got. Our starters provided the opportunity to get in younger kids or some seniors that are predominantly special teams players. As a coach, you love seeing the joy on the kids faces getting into varsity games in more prominent roles.”

Tremba opened the scoring as he often does with an 86-yard run. Spang connected with Beidelman and Sanchez from 16 and five yards out, respectively, and Dauberman found the end zone from 15 yards away to round out the scoring in the opening quarter. Rosenblum’s 15 yard touchdown run was the lone score in the second quarter, and then Guzman hit Ruisch from 15 yards away for a fourth quarter score.

Parkland’s defensive unit allowed just 56 total yards from the Canaries and forced four turnovers.

Parkland welcomes Bethlehem Catholic (5-2 overall) to town. The Golden Hawks won their first five games of the season, but have since lost two in-a-row, including last weekend to Freedom.
