Emmaus boys tennis begins postseason at league tournament

The Emmaus boys tennis program competed in the 2023 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference postseason tournament last Thursday afternoon at Freedom High School.

The Green Hornets’ No. 1 singles Eddy Chow came up short in his quarterfinal match, losing to Bethlehem Catholic’s Arman Makwana. The news wasn’t better for No. 2 Nick Stone, who lost to Nazareth’s Gideon Knowles in the quarters. No. 3 Zach Moser could not solve Nazareth’s Alay Patel in his quarter match.

The No. 2 doubles team of Ryan Baig Quinn Durkin had a disappointing result in their quarterfinal match, losing to Liberty’s Jacksen Jobes and Sid Tekumalla. It was the same story for the No. 3 doubles team comprised of Sarvesh Senguttuvan and Quaid Peatiwala, who lost their quarterfinal battle to Liberty’s Connor Ohl and Finn Brown.

Finally, Emmaus’ No. 4 doubles team of Huy Huynh and Abdoul Aidara were also beaten in their quarterfinal match. The duo fell to Liberty’s Matt Alter and Caden Vermuelen.

The Hornets now turn their attention to the District 11 3A singles tournament, which begins with first round and quarterfinal round action April 24 at Lehigh University. The title will be decided the next day at Saucon Valley High School with the semis and championship matches.
