EHS Theater Department holds spring musical ‘Fiddler on the Roof’

As Willow Lane Elementary School presents its spring play, “Medallion Island,” the Interact Club is seeking volunteers to aid backstage. Performances will be held 5:45-8:15 p.m. with shows beginning at 6 p.m. March 9-10. Volunteer responsibilities include socializing with students and supervising backstage operations. The East Penn School District will be closed March 10, with no student classes held on this date.

Emmaus High School will administer the SAT and SAT Subject Test 7:45 a.m. March 11 for preregistered students only. Visit https://satsuite.collegeboard.org for details.

Habitat for Humanity will hold its next meeting after school March 21 in Room 513, planning for its annual spaghetti dinner and other fundraising events. For details, contact mrusso@eastpennsd.org.

The EHS Local Scholarship Program is accepting applications now through March 27 from all seniors.

Through the program, which consists of over 30 scholarships, students may select from a list of sponsors and apply to those that best fit their postsecondary plans. To access the list, visit Naviance, https://www.eastpennsd.org/ehs/counseling/ or any EPSD social media account. All applications are due by 2:30 p.m. March 27. For its spring musical, the EHS Theater Department will perform “Fiddler on the Roof,” a tale of family and tradition set in 1905 Russia. Topics such as anti-Semitism, poverty and nationality are interwoven throughout the plot. Shows will run March 29 to April 2, with tickets available for purchase on the EHS website. In addition, a complimentary performance will be held 6 p.m. March 28 for senior citizen Gold Card holders. With questions, contact the high school main office at 610-965-1650.

In order to maintain membership, all National Honor Society students must accumulate a minimum of 12 volunteer hours by June, with three of those falling under the “NHS Project” category. To meet this requirement, volunteer opportunities are continually posted on the NHS Schoology page, where students may sign up as their schedule allows. The Interact Club has resumed its soda tab collection to benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities. Now through the end of the school year, students may drop tabs in the collection bin near Room 524.
