Hokendauqua: Registration is open for 2023 HPPA baseball, softball season

Registration is now open at hokeypark.com for the Hokendauqua Park and Playground Association baseball and softball seasons.

HPPA will host teams for the following - girls: K to 18U; boys: K to 19; baseball (T-ball and Grasshoppers): 4.5 to 8 years old; baseball (Biddy, Midget and Knee-Hi): 8 to 15 years old; baseball (Majors): 14 to 18 years old; softball: coed T-ball or 8U softball; and softball: 10U, 12U, 14U and 18U.

Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3355 MacArthur Road, will hold a basket social 9 a.m.-3 p.m. March 4 and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. March 5. There will be a variety of baskets, a bake sale and food.

The township has aqua aerobics classes scheduled for 6-7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays March 21-May 16. There will be no class April 6.

Classes will take place in the Whitehall High School natatorium, 3800 Mechanicsville Road.

Ironton Rail Trail Oversight Commission scheduled its spring historical walk for 9 a.m. March 25, starting at the barn at 4041 Chestnut St. The walk is approximately 7 miles; allow about four hours at a leisurely pace, with occasional stops to view historical sites. Hike leaders are Bob Abbott and Ray Bieak.

This free event requires no registration.

The township will hold indoor public swim sessions, for Whitehall and Coplay residents, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesdays through March 29 in the WHS natatorium. No registration is required, but you must show your photo ID.

Sessions will be canceled if Whitehall-Coplay School District is closed.

Children under the age of 10 must be supervised. Any child in need of a flotation device must be accompanied while in the pool.

Whitehall is planning its annual community egg hunt, tentatively set for 10 a.m. April 1 at Whitehall Parkway, 4689 S. Church St. More than 500 toy-filled plastic eggs will be hidden, including several prize eggs.

Participants can register 9-9:45 a.m. on site on the day of the event.

The hunt will be broken into three age groups - 5 and under, 6-8 and 9-10. There is a 10-egg limit.

Hokey Athletic Association has scheduled a designer purse bingo for April 21 at American Club of Coplay, 300 Cherry St. Doors open 6 p.m., and bingo starts 7 p.m.

Also available will be special bingos, a Chinese auction and special raffles. The kitchen will be open.

Tickets are cheaper when purchased in advance.
