Zephs compete at EPC cross country meet

The EPC cross country meet took place last week at DeSales leading up to this week’s District 11 meet, which also takes place at DeSales.

The District 11 meet takes place Wednesday, Oct. 25, after Press deadlines for this week.

In the EPC meet, Whitehall was led by Mikayla Warren, who took 41st place in 22:42. The girls finished 12th overall as a team.

“The girls finished 12 of 13 teams led by Mikayla Warren, who has been the number-one runner the last couple years at Whitehall,” said head coach Mike Lelko. “Mikayla gives 110-percent with her running and everything she does and is a pleasure to coach.”

Lelko pointed to Kathy Chen, Christen Makhoul, Tess Hopkins and Grace Tsamutalis as veteran girls who had strong races at the EPC meet.

The Zephyr boys were 10th of 15 teams at the EPC Championship, led by Austin Hedrick, who ran a personal best DeSales course time of 18:54.7. He finished 53rd overall.
