EHS girls XC caps unbeaten 2022 season

The Emmaus cross country teams ended the regular season with strong performances last Tuesday at their final regular season meet of 2022, featuring Emmaus, Parkland, Central Catholic and Whitehall.

The Green Hornet girls squad won their competition with a 20:29 average. Hailey Reinhard was in charge during the girls race, easily outdistancing the entire field with a first-place 19:17 finish. Teammate Madelyn McCartney, a freshman, continued her fantastic season with a strong second-place finish in 19:52.

Reinhard and McCartney led the way for Emmaus, but the Hornets had plenty of help. Payton Campbell and Addison Johnson have had consistently solid seasons and the Parkland Duals were no different. They finished fourth and fifth in the 73-person field with times respectively of 20:29 and 21:14. Finishing also in the top 10 was Nicol Nosal, a senior, with a 21:33 time. Four other runners - Isabella Scarletta, Sophia Kovalski, Ava Rincon and Ava Palamara - clocked times good enough for top 20 finishes.

The Emmaus boys team earned second place behind Parkland. Leading the way for the Green Hornets was senior Conor Fisher. The sophomore has grown throughout the season and last Tuesday’s race was evidence. He ran an 18:06 race, good for fifth. Teammate Jared Petre was the next finisher in 18:14 for a seventh place ranking, and senior Brett Pavec rounded out Emmaus’ top 10 finishers with a ninth place 18:24 time.

Four Hornet runners - Oscar Felegy, Tyler Finick, Richard Will and Sam Dalton - ran in a pack, all finishing within 14 seconds of one another. Their efforts translated into 12th through 15th place finishes. Three other runners - Sean Daubert, Dominic Nunez and Ryan Fach ran good races to finish respectively 21st, 24th and 25th.

Coach Kami Reinhard’s squad prepares now for the postseason, with EPC leagues scheduled for Oct. 18 and District 11 races set for Oct. 26. Both events will be held at DeSales University.
