Residents to be notified on sidewalk repairs

Editor’s Note: This is a corrected copy of the Macugie Borough Council meeting printed in the Oct. 5 edition of The Press.

During the Oct. 3 Macungie Borough Council meeting, discussion centered around the South Church Street reconstruction project. A meeting will be held with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation to evaluate the project and discuss parameters. This project includes curbing and sidewalk repairs which are to be addressed prior to street reconstruction.

There are 79 properties with sidewalks on South Church Street that are to be inspected. After inspection, property owners with curbing and sidewalks needing repair will be notified. The borough is considering using a contractor program for repairing borough owned curbing and sidewalks.

Council approved the new refuse collection with Whitetail Refuse. The new quarterly rate will be $131.24.

Maintenance of the rain garden vegetation was discussed. Planting options will be considered next spring.

Council discussed a construction change order request for Streetscape V offering trench drains as an alternative to current plastic piping at two isolated locations.

Council discussed and adopted a Macungie Borough Code of Ethics and Conduct.
