‘Party in the park’ at Community Days

The 41st annual Coplay Community Days festival is planned for Aug. 26-28, rain or shine, at Saylor Park, Second and Keefer streets.

This “party in the park” is completely staffed by volunteers. There is plenty of free parking and no cover charge for the entertainment.

Entertainment, on the Miller Lite stage under the Holencik Exteriors and Giant Food Store pavilion, will feature The Aardvarks 6-9 p.m. Aug. 26; Steel Creek 1-4 p.m. Aug. 27; The Sofa Kings 6-9 p.m. Aug. 27; Josef Kroboth Polka Party noon-3 p.m. Aug. 28; Sue Rabenold and Michael Scherer 3:30-5 p.m. Aug. 28; and The Large Flowerheads 6-9 p.m. Aug. 28.

The event will feature classic festival food fare and beverages.

Food will be provided by Coplay Fire Company, Island Expressions, St. John’s Lutheran Church, Coplay Garden Club and Coplay Sports.

Relax, eat and drink under the Samuel Owens beverage tent for beer, seltzers and other adult beverages. There will be draft beers, wine, seltzers and spritzer specials.

No outside coolers - food or drinks - are permitted.

Organizers are planning a craft fair at the event as well.

There will be a family Splash and Dance party with deejay Freddie Fredericks Jr. 1:30-4 p.m. Aug. 28 at Coplay’s Parkway Pool.

Additionally, there will be a free Aqua Zumba party at the pool with Tara Miller from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 28.

There will also be free swimming Aug. 27 and 28.

Tootsie the Clown will be at the event 1:30-3:30 p.m. Aug. 28 - family day - to do face painting for the kids.

Event sponsors include Holencik Exteriors, Giant Food Store, Samuel Owens Restaurant and Bar, Miller Lite, American Club of Coplay, Reph’s Complete Auto Repair, Eberhardt Motors, Maria Hacker’s Re/Max Office, American Container and Disposal, Daku’s Auto Body, Brubaker Funeral Home, Lu and Dale Donovan, state Rep. Jeanne McNeill and family, IBEW Local 375, Carpenters Local 167, Teamsters Local 773, Lehigh Valley Press, Coplay Borough Council and Coplay Public Works Department.

Masks are optional at this outdoor event.
