Connie Mack team focuses on fundamentals

The Salisbury Falcons Connie Mack team entered the 2021 campaign focused on controlling what they can, not what they cannot.

“With 15 players on our roster, in every game we attempt to achieve a good balance of a competitive game showing and player time,” said Falcon head coach Dennis Grejda. “We are not setting expectations for a win-loss record. Good records are the result of execution in fundamental play.”

Grejda notes lessons learned on the ball field translate to other fields.

“I love teaching the game in terms of fundamental skills development and how to be competitive,” said the coach. “Sharing the concept of continuous improvement in skills and teamwork is extremely important. A future use in business and life lesson.”

Grejda and assistants Chris Adamcik, Andrew Cerco and Ralph Lovelidge are determined to instill with the boys a love of the game.

“We resound in the theme that offensively and defensively each player must execute on every pitch, every inning - which is to win the inning, so to speak - and a game win can most likely be the rewarding result,” Grejda said.

The 15-man roster features Andrew Grejda, Brady Leiner, Christopher Lovelidge, Dennis Henninger, Gavin Cerco, Jake Zellin, Joshua Day, Julian Diaz, Julien Madison, Luis Gonzalez, Mason Dickert, Sean McClain, Thomas Lovelidge and Zeven Adamcik.

Through five games the Falcons are 2-3, which includes a 7-0 win over Northampton last Saturday.
