Salisbury Township School District kindergarten and first grade pupils to return to school in November

In case you haven’t heard, the Salisbury Township School Board voted to approve students in kindergarten and first grade to return to in-person learning sometime in November.

The first step in this process will be parents filling out a survey to inform the district whether their student will stay virtual or come into the school for face-to-face learning. After that, students may be shifted to a different homeroom, as one teacher per grade will be the designated virtual teacher and their students who are coming into the building will be distributed to the other face-to-face teachers.

It is not ideal, but a necessity to make our way back to in-school learning.

Learning support and other grades through sixth will make their way back periodically.

I know this topic is controversial and everyone has their own opinion, but here is mine. I cannot wait to have students back in the building. Working in an elementary school with no students is just disheartening. It is too quiet. Also, students need socialization. They need teachers in the same room to keep them focused and engaged. As long as we follow all the protocols, I feel this will be beneficial to everyone. So, there it is. Agree or disagree, that is the way I feel.
