Allen/East Allen townships: Scouts will hold sign-ups

Cub Scout Pack 40 will hold a sign-up night 6:45 p.m. Sept. 12 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1335 Old Carriage Road, Kreidersville.

Boys who register for Cub Scouts will receive a free fishing rod and reel.

The pack will meet every Tuesday, 6:45-8 p.m., in the fellowship hall.

Cub Scouting is a family-oriented program for boys in kindergarten through fifth grade. Parental involvement is a must.

Reminder: Beginning Sept. 8, and continuing the second Friday of each month through March, Gov. Wolf Historical Society will open its campus, 6600 Jacksonville Road, for an evening of music, fun and partying.

Each month will feature different musicians in each of the society’s three buildings, with genres ranging from blues to bluegrass, folk to Celtic.

These evenings will be BYOB. Complimentary nonalcoholic beverages and light snacks will be available.

There is a cost. No advance reservations are needed.

The campus opens 6:30 p.m. Doors to the Ralston-McKeen House (the main venue) open 6:45 p.m., with music beginning 7 p.m. Pub tables and seating will be available throughout the building.

The season kicks off with the Irish band Seasons, featuring hammer dulcimer, tin flute, harp, fiddle and crazy guitar, plus a few other surprises.

The evenings will include historic demonstrators, liquor tastings and additional music and activities throughout the buildings.
