Coplay column
In keeping with the Halloween season, Coplay Garden Club's Oct. 30 program will be called "Plants of Murder and Mahem" and will be presented by Sue Drabic.
Houseplants featured in the program, held at St. John's Lutheran Church, will be Crassula (jade), Schefferra (umbrella tree), Zebrina (wandering Jew) and Hypoestos (polka dot plant).
The 7 p.m. program's floral arrangement tournament is themed "Let's Go Tic Tacking." For the novice, a triangle design should be submitted and for advanced competitors, a triangle design using Indian corn or squash is required.
Specimens for judging at the event will be asters, berries, vegetables and chrysanthemums. The public is invited.

The Coplay Fire Department is proud to announce the Grammy Award nominated Alex Meixner Band is coming to Coplay Sunday Dec. 7.
The performance is scheduled for 3-6 p.m. at the American Club Pavilion. Doors open at 2 p.m.
There is a cost. In honor of National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, any Pearl Harbor survivors get in free and any other World War II Veterans get tickets at half price. Proper documentation is required.
All proceeds will benefit the Coplay Fire Department.

Coplay Public Library has tickets on sale for a fundraising spaghetti dinner an Chinese auction set for Saturday, Nov. 8, 4 to 8 p.m., at St. Peter's Church, Fifth and Coplay streets. Tickets are available at the library and by calling 610-262-7351.

A MedRx Return-Drug Collection unit has been placed at the borough hall lobby. Residents can dispose prescriptions, over-the-counter items, samples vitamins, pet medication, prescription patches and ointments.
Syringes, needles, aerosol cans and inhalers are not accepted.
