On May 29, Sheckler Elementary School was the site of a BMX bike show. The show was put on by Dialed Action Sports and provided the kids in attendance with an awesome bike display. However, it also taught them about the importance of bicycle maintenance - like checking brakes, tires and chains before pedaling - as well as helmet safety. The show was a result of fundraising from the annual Sage Stauffer Memorial Soccer Tournament which takes place in August. Sage passed away on Aug. 30, 2010, after suffering severe head trauma in a bicycle accident. For the past three years, the soccer tournament in Sage's memory helps to improve the skill sets of all players - bringing Sage's love of the game to other kids, promoting healthy lifestyles, and building relationships and teamwork throughout the soccer community. Proceeds from the tournament benefit the fund in memory of Sage which will be used to also provide a scholarship.
