JaindlAG to host Tough Mudder challenge

David Jaindl, owner of JaindlAG™, together with Tough Mudder, the world's most-recognized endurance series, announced recently the company has entered into an agreement to lease 400 acres for the Tough Mudder challenge.

The high-octane event, taking place on June 1 and 2 is sold out for Saturday.

Registrations are still being accepted for Sunday.

There will be approximately 22,000 participants over the course of the weekend.

Dubbed "Probably the Toughest Event on the Planet," Tough Mudder challenges consist of 10 plus mile obstacle courses designed by British Special Forces to test all around strength, stamina, mental grit and camaraderie.

At JaindlAG™'s Raven Valley farm, Schnecksville and Lowhill Township, Mudders can expect a challenging course containing new and improved obstacles, varied terrain and epic views.

Tough Mudder is a proud supporter of Wounded Warrior Project.

To date, Mudders have raised more than $5 million to support thousands of troops returning from the battlefield.

"We liked the idea of supporting the Wounded Warrior Project, and are particularly proud to be able to help Tough Mudder with raising funds for this worthy cause," said Jaindl in a press release. "All money yielded to us through the lease of the property will be donated by Jaindl to Wounded Warrior Project and to local community organizations. The economic impact and increase in visibility of the Lehigh Valley will be substantial."

"Hosting a Tough Mudder event results in a significant positive economic impact to the area, which is estimated to be between $3 million and $5 million per event," Evan Seely, operations manager at Tough Mudder, said. "On average, 40 percent of participants stay overnight in local hotels. Local retail, food and gas sales increase substantially.

"We anticipate 6,000 cars and 150 buses to come to the event. There will be a lot of planning over the next few weeks so that this event runs smoothly.

"Tough Mudder has organized more than 60 events since 2010, and 53 events are scheduled for 2013; the company's experience is important to the event's success.

"The community has also been an invaluable partner. We'd like to thank the Townships, emergency services, fire companies and police for their efforts and participation in making this event possible."

Tough Mudder is working with local authorities and logistics experts in advance to ensure that the event runs smoothly.

Local stakeholders, including police and fire teams, are closely involved in the process. Parking will be off-site.

Like all sporting events with public participation, Tough Mudder prepares for responding to medical emergencies and caring for those that experience physical impairment during the grueling event.

Tough Mudder is looking for at least 200 volunteers, who will be trained to pump up the crowd, keep the ice pits freezing cold and hand out its coveted orange headbands, among other tasks.

Volunteers get front-row seats for all of the action, a free staff shirt and food, a discount for a future Tough Mudder event and more.
