Blocker’s, Good Days Club celebrate anniversaries

Blocker’s Coffeehouse celebrated its rebirth in a new location during a festive event Oct. 23 at North Catasauqua William J. Albert Memorial Park, 701 Grove St. The Block Friday event included multiple vendors, fresh coffees, Halloween and occult offerings, food, dignitaries and more.

The festival celebrated Blocker’s anniversary at its new location, 333 Front St., Catasauqua. The women-owned coffee house is a “must visit” with its unique ambience and welcoming, cozy, authentic atmosphere.

Tammy Kurtz and Serina Danner, operators of the coffee house, and their team serve a fine selection of coffees and teas. Both Kurtz and Danner were at the event, of course, making coffee and kibitzing with festival attendees.

Brittanie Olsen and Taylor Fredo engage in a local Good Days Club effort. The Good Days Club (also known as the 610’s dopamine dealers) is a social and creative community club based in the Lehigh Valley. They frequently host gatherings and pop-ups at Blocker’s Coffeehouse. Olsen and Fredo teamed up with the Blocker’s team to celebrate its one-year anniversary as a club also.

The celebration had crafts and hair braiding for kids, clothing for sale, food, tarot card readings, pumpkin painting for kids and more. Catasauqua Mayor Anthony Alcalde and his spouse, Maryellen, attended the event with their kids. Alcalde stopped at every vendor tent to see what was offered. His children clearly enjoyed the activities for kids.

A popular attraction was the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile vehicle. The Wienermobile was initially designed by Carl Mayer, a nephew of Oscar Mayer, in 1936. An animated, young man from Chicago named Chili Cheese Charlie and a young woman named Tailgate Taylor of Florida staffed the Wienermobile and interacted with festival attendees.

Carrie staffed the Earth and Ether Witchery and Botanica table offering eclectic, earth religion items and botanicals. Visit shopearthandether.com to see the items they offer for sale.

Catasauqua Youth Athletic Association cheering director Jennifer Medina had a tent set up offering a variety of cheerleading information and CYAA information. Visit the CYAA Facebook page for information about the youth organization.

Queer Witch Tarot readings by Bryan had a tent that offered readings to possibly hear your future or some guidance. Visit @queer.witch.tarot or @ReadingswithBryan for more information about his services.

The beautiful, warm autumn day and the variety of activities and things to see with fresh-brewed coffee increased the palpable energy of the attendees.
