The Emmaus Police Department has announced the death of retired K-9 Ronny, who served the borough for seven years alongside handler Sgt. Murante.

Ronny joined the department in May 2016 and worked in the community until his retirement in August 2023.

During his service, the police department said Ronny demonstrated loyalty, dedication and courage while helping keep residents and visitors safe.

In a statement, the department described Ronny as more than a police dog, calling him a trusted partner, valued department member and ambassador to the community. Officials said his service and devotion will not be forgotten.

The department extended condolences to Sgt. Murante, his family and all who worked with and knew Ronny.
