North Catasauqua: Presbyterian church community lunch scheduled for July 20
Presbyterian Church of Catasauqua’s next free community lunch is set for 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. July 20 at the church, 210 Pine St.
The church is also accepting donations for the Roughie Pantry to “love our school-aged neighbors.” The pantry is accepting shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, body wash, tampons, sanitary napkins, etc.

The next first Monday car cruise will take place 4-8 p.m. Aug. 3 at the park. This is an opportunity to show off your classic car while socializing with fellow car enthusiasts. Entrants can give a donation at the entrance gate, spectators can enjoy the cars free of charge.
Food is available for purchase with all proceeds from food sales going to the Public Library of Catasauqua. The rain date is the second Monday of the month.

The Public Library of Catasauqua’s annual yard sale, in conjunction with Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, is scheduled for 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Aug. 8 at the church. Shop from a big selection of household goods, home decor, clothing, accessories, jewelry, toys, collectibles, tools, sporting goods, etc.
Food and beverage will be available for purchase. All proceeds benefit the library.
If you wish to donate any items to the sale, the church will be accepting donations for drop-off until Aug. 5. Call the church for drop-off hours.

Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church will hold a mystery dinner theater night Sept. 12.
The October-Jest murder mystery event begins 5:30 p.m. with a night of fun, felony and fellowship. There is a cost to attend.
Dinner will consist of herb-roasted chicken breast, roasted herb potatoes, salad, dessert and beverages.

St. John Fisher Roman Catholic Church announced Good Shepherd CYO sign-ups are taking place. You can play CYO sports even if you don’t go to Good Shepherd School as long as you belong to one of the local parishes.
Sign-ups have now begun for cross-country in grades K-8 and for girls volleyball in grades 5-8.

North Catasauqua Police Department would like residents to know the Pennsylvania State Police Office of Homeland Security is hosting a free online webinar entitled Protecting Seniors Online: Think Before You Click, planned for 1-4 p.m. Sept. 9.
The session is designed to teach seniors how to recognize online threats such as impersonation scams, phishing emails and other fraud schemes; provide practical tips for protecting personal and financial information; and explain what to do if you or a loved one becomes a victim of fraud.

Catasauqua American Legion Post 215, 330 Second St., is selling Challenge Coins for veterans. Veteran Challenge Coins are custom-designed medallions that represent a veteran’s service, unit or specific achievements. These coins can commemorate special events, missions, anniversaries or meetings with leaders.
The Post is also selling 20-ounce metal tumblers with a plastic straw featuring the VFW logo.

Food prep volunteers and food contributions are wanted for the summer programs for North Catasauqua and Catasauqua children by Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church. The church prepares and serves lunches for both park programs Mondays to Fridays.
Volunteers are needed twice a week for food prep and daily to hand out lunches. Child abuse and state criminal clearances are needed to volunteer. The clearances and background checks are free of charge and the church can offer assistance with obtaining both.

The church is also looking for donations to help replenish the food supplies. Individually packed salty snacks, such as Doritos, Takis, potato chips and cheese curls can be dropped off at the church. You can also make a monetary donation and volunteers will take care of the shopping.

Catasauqua Community Thrift Shop, 113 Bridge St., will celebrate Christmas in July through July 31 with a lot of Christmas items.
The thrift shop is happy to accept donations of clean, used clothing, household items and toys during regular store hours.
The shop’s regular hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Proceeds from the thrift shop are returned to the community through contributions that support youth and adult programs and services.

Catasauqua Community Food Bank, 527 Front St., is accepting donations. The food bank needs pasta, cereal, soup, rice, stuffing, instant potatoes, granola bars and peanut butter crackers. Monetary donations are also accepted.
Donations may be dropped off during open hours, 3-4 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays.
Any donations or checks to the food bank must be written to Catasauqua Community Partnership or CCPI, due to banking regulations.
