LM Connie Mack goes 1-1-1 over three games

The Lower Macungie Sr. Connie Mack baseball team had a little bit of it all happen in the results column last week. The Mustangs won one game, lost one game and tied one game over three days.

Lower Mac fell to North Parkland 5-3 last Wednesday, but followed that with a 5-4 victory over South Parkland. The Mustangs then tied North Bethlehem 7-7 Friday to complete the week of action.

In the game with the Buffaloes, LM never led and went down 2-0 in the second after NP scored a run in both the top of the first and second innings.

The Mustangs (5-2-3) scored their first run in the bottom of the second on an RBI double by Dylan Haughney. They scored two more in the bottom of the seventh trailing 5-1, when Cooper Kinney recorded a run-scoring single and Chase Evans then ripped an RBI double to cap the scoring.

Haughney went 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead the lineup and both Kinney and Evans had a hit and an RBI, with Kinney also scoring a run. Luke Harris, Owen Herrity, Justin Spagna and Daniel Rusiecki all had a hit.

In the win over the Trojans, the Mustangs went down 1-0 in the bottom of the first, but scored twice that frame and added two more in the third and one in the fifth to take the game.

Lower Mac scored its two runs in the first on a SP error and a double steal. In the third, Rusiecki tripled home Dominic Gasper and then Dalton Tabako singled Rusiecki home.

In the fifth, Tabako was at it again as he recorded an RBI, infield single to cap the scoring. Harris threw a complete game on the mound and allowed just two earned runs, striking out six. Tabako finished with two hits and each of Herrity, Gasper and Rusiecki all added one hit.

Against North Bethlehem, neither team was able to get over the top of the other after six innings and the game ended in a tie.

The Mustangs fell behind 1-0 after the first but then put up six runs in the top of the second. NB went right back ahead after tallying two runs in the bottom of the second and then four in the third to go up 7-6. The Mustangs tied the game with a run in the sixth.

Logan Kershner finished with a hit and two RBIs, while also scoring a run. Kieran Hullfish and Gasper both contributed a hit and an RBI and Ryan Knight also recorded an RBI. Kinney threw four innings, striking out six batters and allowing zero earned runs.
