Buffaloes go 8-8, now seek tourney title
The Lehigh Valley Legion regular season schedule concluded with North Parkland going 2-1 over its final three games.
The Buffaloes finished 8-8 on the season and will play in the league tournament for a spot in the Legion Regionals that take place next week in Quakertown.
North Parkland split a pair of games against Lower Macungie, which was able to hang on to second spot in the standings just ahead of Parkland.
The Buffaloes used some timely hitting and standout pitching from Steven Sepko and Chase Smith who both held the Mustangs hitless. Sepko threw two innings and Smith came on to finish out the final five innings to get the win in the 4-0 game.
Tsubasa Magota picked up two of the seven hits in the game and scored a pair of runs out of the leadoff spot. Peyton Scherff doubled and scored a run and Aiden Henning singled and drove in two runs for Parkland. Sean Fallon, Gavin Hudak, and Jared Santilli all had one hit in the game with Hudak adding a run scored to his stat line. Parkland took advantage of three Lower Macungie errors to score three unearned runs in the win.
Lower Macungie got revenge in the season finale when it held the Buffaloes to just two hits and handed them a 9-0 loss.
Santilli and Sepko had the two hits with Sepko picking up a double and Santilli delivered a single.
The North Parkland defense struggled in the season finale with three errors leading to eight unearned runs in Lower Macungie’s win. Aiden Henning gave up four runs, but all four were unearned as were three allowed by Henning and one of the two runs allowed by Fallon.
Scherff threw 1 1/3 innings of hitless, shutout ball against the Mustangs.
Sandwiched between the two games against Lower Macungie, North Parkland added a 10-4 win against Whitehall-Coplay.
The Buffaloes offense delivered nine hits in the game and drew seven walks in addition to taking advantage of seven Zephyrs’ errors in the game.
Nate Unger had a double and a triple in addition to drawing a walk in the game to pace the North Parkland offense.
Unger also scored a run and drove in a run with Magota scoring twice out of the leadoff spot, while Henning and Anderson both drove in a pair of runs.
Magota went the distance for Parkland to get the win.
The top four teams – South Parkland, Lower Macungie, North Parkland, and Whitehall-Coplay – play for a spot in the Regionals as the LVL playoffs get underway.
The tournament champion joins South Parkland, the regular season champion, in Regionals.
