Board OKs curriculum updates, reviews handbook change

The Salisbury Township School Board directors approved a series of curriculum updates and reviewed potential student handbook revisions during its June 17 meeting.

Approved curriculum changes span multiple subject areas, including elementary specials and secondary courses in science, English language arts, career exploration and readiness, personal finance, and photography and digital imaging.

Directors also approved the 2026 graduation list and several higher education partnerships, including student teaching and counseling affiliation agreements with Chestnut Hill College, Lehigh University and DeSales University. Participants include Nancy Oswald, Amanda Rosten and speech and language student teachers Abigayle Krewson, Remi Heacox and Honor Eidenshink.

District officials said the updates reflect ongoing efforts to strengthen academic programming and prepare students for future careers and postsecondary opportunities.

The board approved the 2026 student and VAST handbooks as written.

Superintendent Lynn Fuini-Hetten said administrators are drafting additional language addressing inappropriate use and distribution of social media and electronic communication. The proposed updates would clarify expectations and outline consequences for violations. Directors were asked to review the draft ahead of further discussion at the August meeting. In her superintendent’s report, Fuini-Hetten also announced schedule adjustments beginning in the 2026-2027 academic year.

Salisbury Middle School will operate 7:35 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with doors opening 7:15 a.m. Salisbury Elementary School will run 8:55 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with doors opening 8:30 a.m. Salisbury High School hours will remain unchanged. Separate from curriculum business, the directors also recognized student achievements across academics, athletics and extracurricular activities and honored retiring staff members for their service to the district.

The next regular meeting is scheduled Aug. 19.
