The Parkland High School boys volleyball team went .500 in the final week of the regular season last week, splitting a pair of Eastern Pennsylvania Conference matches.
The Trojans finished the last week against two teams that have qualified for the District 11 playoffs in Northampton and Emmaus.
The Trojans began the week with a straight set victory over Northampton at home last Monday, April 27, by scores of 25-12, 25-15, 25-18. They followed that up two nights later falling in a heartbreaking, five-set thriller at Emmaus, by scores of 21-25, 25-15, 17-25, 26-24, 14-16.
In the victory over the Kids, the Trojans honored its four seniors in Jude Ruisch, Bear Jacobs, Gabe Chase, and Ryan Kearney.
Zeke Gordner finished with 10 kills, two blocks and one ace. Ruisch recorded seven kills, five digs and two aces.
Kearney, Jacobs and Zamin Soonasra tallied five kills each. Chase contributed 26 assists and 10 digs and Owen Barnett led the defense with 12 digs.
In the match with the Hornets, Parkland kept responding after a loss to win the next set, but could not ultimately win the finale. There were no stats provided at time of print.
Parkland, which improved to 12-3 overall and 10-2 in the conference, earned the No. 3 seed in this week’s EPC playoffs and will take on Northampton, the sixth seed, in an EPC quarterfinal round game Thursday.
The winner will take on the second seed, Freedom, in the semifinals next Tuesday evening at Allen High School.
