PHS girls lax cools after hot start
The Parkland High School girls lacrosse team had one of its best starts to the 2026 season with wins in its first 12 games.
But the Trojans have dropped some recent games against quality opponents over the past two weeks.
After falling by just one goal to defending Eastern Pennsylvania Conference champion Pleasant Valley on April 16, Parkland lost all three of its contests last week, two in the conference and one a nonconference game.
The Trojans dropped a game 18-5 to Nazareth last Tuesday, April 21, fell to Liberty 11-8 two nights later and then finished the week with a 12-7 defeat at Wilson West Lawn on Saturday afternoon.
In the game with the Blue Eagles, Parkland scored two goals in the first quarter and three in the fourth, but that was all they could muster up.
The five goals were scored by five different players, including Sydney Sensinger, Jade Caravello, Olivia Esteban, Addie Winfield and Laura Volpe, with Caravello dishing out two assists. Audrina Stewart finished with one save in net.
Against the Hurricanes, Liberty jumped out to a 5-1 advantage after the first quarter, but Parkland cut its deficit to just one at halftime, outscoring the Hurricanes 4-1 in the second.
The two teams traded goals in the third quarter and then the hosts finished it out by scoring twice in the fourth and not allowing one. Volpe led the attack with six goals and
Esteban rounded out the scoring with two goals. Stewart made five saves.
Against the Bulldogs, both Sensinger and Caravello found the back of the net twice and each of Esteban, Volpe and Milla Hahn scored once. Lila Temchatin contributed two assists. Stewart had 10 saves in goal.
Parkland, which comes into this week at 12-4 overall and 3-3 in the conference, closes out the regular season portion of its schedule this week with two more conference matchups, one at home and one on the road. The Trojans hosted Central Catholic Tuesday night and are at Emmaus Thursday night in the season finale.
With two league games remaining Parkland is a logjam for fourth place in the league standings along with Easton (9-5 overall, 3-3 EPC), Freedom (8-6, 3-3). Liberty (6-8, 3-4) is just behind. Pleasant Valley (12-1, 6-0) leads the league, followed by Nazareth (14-1, 5-1) and Emmaus (10-4, 5-2).
