Roberts promoted to deputy chief in Moore Township

At the May 5 Moore Township Board of Supervisors meeting, township Officer Thomas Roberts was promoted to deputy chief of the Moore Township Police Department. Roberts was elevated to serve as deputy to ultimately replace Chief Gary West, who will be retiring at the end of August.

West served as Moore Township police chief for decades. He started his police career 36 years ago with the former Bath Borough Police Department.

Roberts is a lifelong Moore Township resident. He is an Eagle Scout and a U.S. Army veteran. Roberts holds an associate degree in criminal justice, graduating summa cum laude, which is the highest distinction awarded to college graduates.

Roberts has served as a Moore Township police officer for 26 years, his entire police career.

His wife, Belinda, pinned on his deputy chief badge after his appointment at the meeting.

Roberts said he is excited for the appointment and grateful for the opportunity to continue serving Moore Township as its next police chief.
