North Catasauqua: North Catasauqua Community Day set for May 29 at park

The annual North Catasauqua Community Day is set for 5-8 p.m. May 29 at North Catasauqua William J. Albert Memorial Park, 701 Grove St.

Explore police, fire and EMS vehicles, see K-9 demonstrations and meet local first responders and community organizations. There will be food vendors, live deejay and music, bounce houses, basket raffles, kids activities and more. There will be a helicopter landing and demonstration at approximately 5:30 p.m.

The event is hosted by North Catasauqua Police Association.

Catasauqua Garden Club will meet June 3 at Slovak Center Social Club, 1233 Fifth St. Doors open 12:30 p.m. with the meeting starting promptly 1 p.m.

Members will learn all about organic fertilizers from Pennsylvania Master Gardener Lynn Dautrich. Garden-friendly visitors are welcome.

A coffee and conversation event is planned for 9-11 a.m. June 5 at borough hall. The event will be hosted by state Rep. Zach Mako, R-183rd. Coffee and light refreshments will be provided.

The event is only open to residents of North Catasauqua and the 183rd District.

The 20th annual North Catasauqua small Town USA carnival will be held 6-10 p.m. June 10-13 at North Catasauqua William J. Albert Memorial Park. There will be food, games, rides and live music each night.

Registration is now open for North Catasauqua’s summer park program — Pop Up and Play — which will be run by the YMCA at the park. The program will run 9:30 a.m.-noon Mondays-Fridays June 15-July 31 for children entering kindergarten through sixth grade.

There will be no sessions July 2 and 3 due to the holiday.

There will be weekly themes, field trips, lunch provided daily by Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church and games. The program is available only to residents of North Catasauqua.

Teen mentorship opportunities are available for Pop Up and Play as well. Opportunities are available for Catasauqua Area School District students entering grades 7-12. Interested teens should contact the YMCA at cmesser@ymcarivercrossing.org.

The 2026 park summer cornhole league registration is now open. Register as an individual or as team. Weekly cornhole matches will take place 6 p.m. Tuesdays June 16-Aug. 18 at North Catasauqua park.

There will be one midseason tournament, and the same boards will be used as last year.

The summer concert series in the park returns with the first concert set for 6:30-9 p.m. June 24. The T&T band will perform, and the concert is free of charge.

Save the date for the annual St. Mary’s Church block party, set for June 25-27.

The event will feature entertainment by deejay Dan Wade with DH Productions 6-9 p.m. June 25 and 26 and Sons of Izzy 5-9 p.m. June 27. There will be a special Mass 4 p.m. June 27, but there will not be a 6 p.m. Mass.

The Catasauqua and North Catasauqua J4 Committee has been busy planning a patriotic celebration, set for July 4 at Catasauqua Park and Playground, 501 American St. The rain date will be July 5.

The celebration will begin with the annual reading of the Declaration of Independence noon at the George Taylor House, Lehigh and Poplar streets, Catasauqua. The opening ceremony is set for 1 p.m. at the park. The event will include food trucks, music, craft tables, flea market vendors, a dunk tank, a cornhole tournament and children’s games hosted by the YMCA.

This year’s event will also feature a mega Catasauqua High School class reunion, bringing together graduates from every class, as well as teachers and staff.

The evening will conclude with the Flirtin’ with the Mob performing 7-9 p.m., and a fireworks display at dusk at the CHS Alumni Field football stadium.

Crafters and flea market vendors are still sought, as well as CHS graduates to help coordinate and plan the mega reunion.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church PREP, 122 Union St., Catasauqua, is accepting registrations for Vacation Bible School — Putting on the Armor of God.

Instruction will take place 9 a.m.-noon Monday-Friday July 13-17.

Experience this one-of-a-kind Catholic VBS. Attendees will immerse themselves in the meaning of being a soldier for Christ, teaching values of humility, service, solidarity and holiness. Each day will include prayer, outdoor games, crafts, music and much more.

VBS is open to all children grades K-8. There is a cost.

The Rev. Eric Gruber has been reassigned back to St. John Fisher Catholic Church, 1239 Third St., from a parish in Summit Hill. He will now be administrator to St. John Fisher and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Catasauqua. The new assignment is effective in mid-June.

Borough council recently approved an update to ordinance 451 with regard to traffic and parking. Effective immediately, borough residents are not allowed to use items such as cones, chairs or other items to save a parking spot on borough streets.

The Lions Club collects unwanted, used eyeglasses. Used eyeglasses may be dropped off at Whitehall Township Public Library, 3700 Mechanicsville Road, or Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, 604 Fourth St., Catasauqua. The eyeglasses are distributed to those in need of eyeglasses around the world.

Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church is also collecting old cellphones for recycling. Cellphones, smartphones and tablets are accepted and help to support a zero-landfill program and Turning Point of the Lehigh Valley.
