Festival of the Arts showcases student creativity

The 23rd Annual Parkland Festival of the Arts opened May 14, kicking off a three-day celebration showcasing student creativity through music, visual arts, theater, dance and hands-on activities at Parkland High School.

The festival is designed to provide an annual venue for the many forms of visual and performing arts found throughout the school district and the surrounding adult community it serves. Organizers said the event aims to entertain, educate and excite visitors by giving attendees the opportunity to view artwork, experience live performances and see artists in action.

Thursday evening featured the Parkland High School Chorus concerts in the auditorium as well as a large student art exhibition throughout the school. The student art show included the Trojan Art Gallery featuring Senior Art Award recipients, the Gallery Showcase highlighting East Central Pennsylvania Regional Scholastic Art Awards and displays throughout the art studios featuring Parkland student artwork.
