North Catasauqua: Register now for North Catasauqua summer park program
Registration is open for the Pop Up and Play summer park program, run by the YMCA at North Catasauqua William J. Albert Memorial Park, 701 Grove St. It runs 9:30 a.m.-noon Mondays through Fridays from June 15 to July 31 for North Catasauqua children entering kindergarten through sixth grade.
To register, return your completed packet to the Y CARE afterschool program 4-6 p.m. on school days at Sheckler Elementary School or at the park 6-7 p.m. May 21 or 27. Space is limited so register early.

Teen mentorship opportunities are available for Pop Up and Play for Catasauqua Area School District students entering grades 7-12. Interested teens should contact the YMCA at cmesser@ymcarivercrossing.org.

The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission will host a fish-for-free day to allow anyone to legally fish on all Pennsylvania waterways May 24. No license is required, but all other fishing regulations still apply.

Due to the Memorial Day holiday, trash and recycling will not be collected May 25. The trash and recycling will be collected May 26.

The North Catasauqua Community Day will be 5-8 p.m. May 29 at the North Catasauqua park. This is a chance to meet local police officers, see demonstrations, grab food and enjoy a day with the community.
Bring your family, friends and community spirit. The event is hosted by North Catasauqua Police Association.

North Catasauqua Borough Council will meet 7 p.m. June 1 in the basement-level meeting room at borough hall, 1066 Fourth St.
The meeting will have both in-person and virtual options. Visit the borough website, northcatasauqua.org, to access the agenda and view the meeting virtually.

A coffee and conversation event is planned for 9-11 a.m. June 5 at borough hall. The event will be hosted by state Rep. Zach Mako, R-183rd. Coffee and light refreshments will be provided.
The event is only open to residents of North Catasauqua and the 183rd District.

The 20th annual North Catasauqua small Town USA carnival will be held June 10-13 at the park.

The 2026 park summer cornhole league registration is now open. Register as an individual or as team. Weekly cornhole matches will take place 6 p.m. Tuesdays June 16-Aug. 18 at the park.
There will be one midseason tournament, and the same boards will be used as last year.

The summer concert series in the park returns with the first concert set for 6:30-9 p.m. June 24. The T&T band will perform, and the concert is free of charge.

The Rev. Eric Gruber has been reassigned back to St. John Fisher Catholic Church, 1239 Third St., from a parish in Summit Hill. He will now be administrator to St. John Fisher and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Catasauqua. The new assignment is effective in mid-June.

Borough council recently approved an update to ordinance 451 with regard to traffic and parking. Effective immediately, residents may not use items such as cones, chairs or other items to save a parking spot on borough streets.

With Memorial Day approaching, are you looking to honor someone who served in the military? Consider purchasing a Hometown Heroes banner. A photo of the individual to be put on the banner will be needed with the name of the individual on the back of the photo. The banners will be installed and hung on various streets in the borough.
Banner application forms are available at borough hall during regular business hours.
