Hokendauqua: Fishing derby planned for May 30

The annual township fishing derby will be held May 30 in the Coplay Creek at Hokendauqua Park and Playground, 3417 Lehigh St. Registration starts 8 a.m., and the contest will be held 9-11 a.m.

There will be first-, second- and third-place prizes for ages 6 and under, 7-9, 10-12 and 13-15.

First Presbyterian Church of Hokendauqua, 3005 S. Front St., will be holding a joint Mother’s Day/Father’s Day luncheon May 31, honoring all mothers, fathers and those who act in those roles from the congregation only, as this is not a public event.

The luncheon will follow the worship service.

There will be a community outdoor market 8 a.m.-1 p.m. June 7 at Schadt Avenue Park, 1975 Schadt Ave. There will be artisans and crafters and vintage and resale items.

Organizers are looking for vendors. To register for a space, visit sportsfactorylv.com/market. There is a cost, and you must provide your own table and/or tent.

The township has announced the 2026 summer concert series lineup. Sponsored by the recreation department, concerts will be held 6-9 p.m., with food and drinks to enjoy, at Whitehall Parkway, 3219 S. Church St.

Concerts include the Castaways June 13, GirlCrue June 20, the Aardvarks July 11, Main Street Cruisers July 18, Steel Creek Aug. 8 and Toolshed Jack Aug. 15. The concert schedule is subject to change.

Whitehall will be holding National Night Out 6-8 p.m. Aug. 4 at Schadt Avenue Park and Playground, 1975 Schadt Ave.

“This event is designed to bring our community together while building positive relationships with local organizations, businesses and first responders,” according to a Facebook post.
