During North Catasauqua Borough Council’s May 4 meeting, council approved ordinance 452, which involves the borough taking ownership of Ridge Street.
Although the borough now has responsibility for that road, no paving will take place until at least next year, depending on the budget. However, council Vice President Adam Landis and Councilwoman Jessica Cope are forming a committee now to research the costs of maintenance and paving.
Council also approved an update to ordinance 451 regarding traffic and parking. Residents are not allowed to use items, such as cones and chairs, to save a parking spot on roads in the borough. The ordinance is in effect as of this meeting.
Council approved the summer meeting schedule. Council will meet only the first Monday of the month in June, July and August. Council will resume holding two meetings a month in September.
Under police Chief Christopher Wolfer’s report, council approved a handicap parking application for 1102 Third St.
Council discussed replacing the handicap swing that was at North Catasauqua William J. Albert Memorial Park, 701 Grove St. The back portion of the swing was damaged, so the swing needed to be removed for safety. Council will be looking into funding for a new handicap swing.
It was announced the summer park program for children will begin in about six weeks. In addition, the volleyball tournament is set to start May 18. On this date, the snack stand will open.
Council next meets 7 p.m. June 1 at the municipal building, 1066 Fourth St.
