PLANT SALE: Hawk Mountain Sanctuary will host its annual Spring Native Plant Sale 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. May 16, and 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. May 17, featuring almost 100 species of native trees, grasses, ferns, shrubs, and flowering plants. The sale will be held outside the Visitor Center in an ADA accessible lot. All proceeds benefit Hawk Mountain’s conservation and education programs. Native plants available for purchase include asters, sunflowers, milkweeds, mountain laurel, phlox, and more. Knowledgeable volunteers will be on hand to make the experience enjoyable, educational, and convenient: helping with plant selection and care, offering expert gardening tips, and even carrying purchases to your car or holding them until the end of your visit. HARP EVENTS: Heidelberg Union Church’s HARP (Heidelberg Area Retired Persons) group will meet at 11 a.m. May 5. They will be traveling to Zimmerman’s Hotel at Werley’s Corner. Weisenburg/Lowhill Historical Society will give the group a tour. They will be going to Cracker Barrel Restaurant following the tour for lunch. They will meet at the church at 10:30 a.m. to carpool. WRITER’S GROUP: Greater Lehigh Valley Writers’ Group (GLVWG) will hold its monthly meeting from 10 a.m. – noon April 25. The meeting is offered in a hybrid format—in-person at the Palmer Branch of the Easton Library, 1 Weller Place, Palmer, and online via Zoom. Membership business will be conducted from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. From 11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m., author Ray Diskin Black will present “The Intersection of Poetry and Memoir.” Diskin Black will present an afternoon workshop on the intersection of poetry and memoir from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. that will give participants the chance to take a deeper dive into this type of writing, ask questions, complete a brief exercise from a writing prompt focusing on memoir and poetry, and share that piece of writing with the group if they so choose. 4-H CAMP: Join the FUN! Boys and girls ages 8-14 (as of Jan. 1, 2026) are invited to attend 4-H Camp. 4-H Camp is part of the beautiful Seven Mountains Scout Camp in Spring Mills, PA. 4-H Camp, June 22 – 26 will be a week of fun! What do we do at camp? Meet new people, learn about nature, make a craft, play sports or Ga-Ga ball, participate in campfires, swim at the pool, and lots more! Our theme for the week is “Red, White, Blue, and You!” which includes special workshops related to our history and heritage in connection with America’s 250th celebration. PEACE CAMP: Elementary School-aged children can enjoy a low-cost day camp designed to encourage cooperation, understanding of other cultures, reverence for our planet and much more at the 37th annual Young People Making Peace Summer Day Camp. Sponsored by LEPOCO Peace Center, the camp offers a low-cost week of mornings, featuring games, crafts, singing, drumming and learning July 27 – 31 on the campus of First Presbyterian Church in Allentown. The enrollment cost is on a sliding scale from $10 to $50/week. Children who have completed Kindergarten through seventh grade are welcome. BASKET SOCIAL: Heidelberg Union Church, 5187 Irvin Road, Slatington, will be holding its Spring Basket Social 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 25 and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 26. The cost is $5 a sheet or 5 sheets for $20. There will be a $200 special cash raffle. A portion of the proceeds will be given to Goodwill Fire Co. No. 1 in Germansville.
CAR SHOW: Morgenland Church, 3120 Weidasville Road, Orefield, (Leather Corner Post) will be holding its “Wheels at the Grove” car show 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 9. All vehicles are welcome. Last year they had cars, trucks, and tractors. This year they will also have a motorcycle. All vehicles will be parked in their paved parking lot as space permits. There is a small registration donation fee. The event is free to visitors and there will be free parking. SUMMER CAMP: Hawk Mountain Sanctuary invites families to plan ahead for an unforgettable summer of outdoor exploration with its 2026 Summer Nature Camps. Designed for youth in grades one through five, these week long day camps will immerse children in the natural world through hands-on, educational, and fun-filled experiences on the Mountain. SENIORS GROUP: Lehigh Gap Nature Center, 8844 Paint Mill Road, Slatington, has formed a new group for nature-minded seniors. The sessions will be held in the Great Hall at the Osprey House on the second Monday of each month from 9-10:30 a.m.
ECOLOGY CLUB: LGNC’s Ecology Club is back for the 2025-26 school year! Children ages 9 and older are invited to meet from 4:15-5:15 p.m. at the Osprey House on the first Wednesday of every month until June 3 for fun, hands-on nature adventures. CAMP CADET: State Police Troop M, Bethlehem, have announced its annual Camp Cadet program will be held June 7 to 12, at Camp Fowler, 5851 Horseshoe Road, Orefield. The camp is an overnight summer program for boys and girls between the ages of 12-15. Its goal is to introduce them to the diverse criminal justice system and to establish a positive relationship between law enforcement and youths, while living in an atmosphere similar to an actual State Police Academy. BUSINESS ANNIVERSARY: Salon Nesma, a Breinigsville-based salon, is celebrating its 10-year anniversary with a grand reopening event to introduce its new spa expansion, “The Spa at Salon Nesma.”
