PHS baseball stays unbeaten in EPC

Rainy weather has backed up the schedule a bit, but the Parkland baseball team has managed to win four of the five games its played this season. The Trojans have had six games postponed through the first three weeks of the 2024 campaign.

Parkland improved to 5-1 overall and 4-0 in East Penn Conference play with an 11-1 win over East Stroudsburg South on Monday in six innings.

Steve Sepko (5 innings pitched, 0 earned runs, 3 strike outs) allowed just one hit while earning the win. The Trojans played error-free defense in the win.

Louis Inserra went 4 for 4 and scored three times while also driving in a pair of runs.

Benjamin Weninger was 2 for 2 with two runs and two RBIs.

The Trojans traveled to Milford on Saturday and beat Delaware Valley 13-1 in five innings.

Nathan Bartholomew allowed just two hits and one run over four innings before Nathan Unger struck out two batters in a hitless fifth inning. The Parkland defense did not commit an error in the game.

Will Dobil went 3 for 3 and drove in three runs while scoring twice. Inserra was 2 for 3 with four RBIs and two runs.

Parkland suffered its only loss of the season on a road trip to Quakertown on Monday April 1, falling 11-1 to the Panthers.

Weninger had Parkland’s only hit in the loss.

The Trojans were back in action Tuesday as they beat Dieruff 14-4.

Inserra had another big day at the plate, going 2 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Andrew Klotz (2 for 4, R, RBI) and Landen Benner (2 for 3, 2 R) also had two hits in the game. Parkland outhit the Huskies 11-6 and was aided by seven walks dished out by Dieruff pitchers.

The Trojans are scheduled to play five games this week, including Easton (Wednesday), Pleasant Valley (Friday, for Shirt off My Back Night) and Pocono Mountain West (Saturday).

They have another four scheduled for next week, including a Tuesday night game against Emmaus at Coca-Cola Park.
