Area groups are seeking volunteers

Bethlehem Emergency Sheltering is partnering with the Bethlehem Area Public Library to provide information for people who are experiencing homelessness, risk of homelessness or who need resources. Computer savvy volunteers will input guest information into a software database and search for appropriate resources any weekday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and relay information in written form and verbally. Have fun while helping to inspire the future leaders of the Lehigh Valley. Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Lehigh Valley has started a new after school mentoring program called STEAM Club for elementary school students in Allentown to learn more about Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math concepts. If you enjoy meeting and interacting with people, come and help with sales and greeting visitors who come to the farm store at Flint Hill Farm Educational Center in Coopersburg. All proceeds from purchases support outreach programs allowing them to get closer to the goal of becoming a sustainable nonprofit. Orientation and training available. Calling all animal lovers! Volunteers are needed for cat care and socialization, dog walkers, small animal (rabbit and guinea pig) care, laundry, dishwashing and maintenance related duties at the Lehigh Valley Humane Society, Allentown. Marvine Elementary School in Bethlehem receives a food donation every Friday to distribute to the community. They need help 9:30-11 a.m. to organize and monitor the food when the community begins to take the items, a watcher for the quantities being taken, sign up list and to break down boxes. Do you love learning and teaching about history? The Moravian Historical Society in Nazareth invites you to serve as a museum tour guide. Provide a welcoming atmosphere and serve as ambassadors for the organization as well as interpreting the museum’s exhibits, helping to give visitors a deeper understanding and appreciation of the history of the Moravians. Do you have a friendly dog that could share some of their love with others? Pleasure of Your Company Therapy Dog teams will attend the monthly ShopRite employee wellness program at the Bethlehem store 1-2 p.m. on the last Friday of the month. The safety of the community is one of the top initiatives and concern for Unidos in Allentown, who needs a great deal of hands in helping create their Prevention 101 Harm Reduction Kits. Opportunities are available Monday, Wednesday, Friday and every other Saturday. Shifts open between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. The minimum age to volunteer is 10 with an adult.
