Salisbury picks up first win of season

It’s been a tough season for the Lady Falcons on the soccer field. They opened the season with 10 straight losses. But game 10 is where things changed. The Falcons hosted Lincoln Leadership Academy and took out some frustrations against the Lions, putting nine goals on the board and allowing just one goal for their first win of the season.

Perhaps ironically, their last win came one year to the day before their first of the season and snapped an overall 13-game losing skid for the team. After that win, also against Lincoln, the team was shutout in their final three games and finished the season 6-11-0.

Their streak of shutouts carried over into this season and reached 12 straight games without a goal until they broke through for their first goal of the season when sophomore Madison Reis scored against Lehighton (4-4-0 Schuylkill, 7-5-0 overall).

This past Saturday, Salisbury played Catasauqua (1-9-0 Colonial, 1-12-1 overall) to a scoreless tie, giving the Falcons a 1-10-1 record on the season.

Salisbury opened this week facing a tough Moravian Academy (6-5-0, 7-6-0) team and fell 7-0 on Monday night.

The Falcons play at Southern Lehigh (7-4-0, 9-6-0) and have a rematch against Lincoln Leadership Academy (0-5-0) before ending the regular season at home with a nonleague game against Oley Valley (2-10-0) and their final Colonial League game against Northern Lehigh (8-3-0, 9-3-0) next week.
