Protect yourself from identity theft by bringing discarded documents containing sensitive personal information to the free shredding event. There is a limit of four bags or boxes per household - no businesses.

Staples, paper clips and manila folders are acceptable, but X-rays and hanging folders are prohibited.

The event is hosted by state Rep. Zach Mako, R-183rd.

North Catasauqua residents are invited to participate in a Hard to Read Plate event, hosted by Mako and North Whitehall Township. The event will take place 4-7 p.m. May 9 at Kolapechka Park, 4075 Coffeetown Road, North Whitehall Township.

If one or more numbers or letters on your license plate cannot be recognized from 50 feet away or if your plate is blistered, discolored or has lost its reflectivity, then you should attend the event to have your license plate replaced.

Drivers must register by May 8 by calling 610-760-9805 or emailing jnestor@pahousegop.com. Have your vehicle registration card and driver’s license available when registering.

At the event, the Lehigh County Sheriff’s Department will determine if the place is illegible, and if so, drivers will be helped to fill out the appropriate paperwork for a replacement. There is no fee for the replacement or this service for a regular license plate. Once submitted to Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, a new replacement plate will be sent to your home.

Also at this event, CarFit, an educational program for seniors to learn how well their personal vehicles fit them, will take place.

To register for CarFit, contact Renee Fritzinger at rfritzinger@hsnetwork.org or call 610-554-3319.
