Bates College

Schierwagen named to dean’s list

Grace Schierwagen, of Northampton, was named to the dean’s list at Bates College for the fall semester ending in December 2022. This is a distinction earned by students whose GPA is 3.92 or higher.

Schierwagen, the daughter of William G. Schierwagen and Susan R. Schierwagen, is a graduate of Gould Academy. She is a senior at Bates, majoring in economics and psychology.

Located in Lewiston, Maine, Bates is internationally recognized as a leading liberal arts college, attracting 2,000 students from across the United States and around the world. Since 1855, Bates has been dedicated to educating the whole person through creative and rigorous scholarship in a collaborative residential community.

Wilkes University

Dean’s list is announced

Wilkes University Provost David M. Ward announced the dean’s list for the fall 2022 semester. To be named to the dean’s list, students must obtain a minimum 3.5 GPA and carry at least 12 credits.

Gray earns president’s list

Caroline Gray, of Northampton, was named to College of Charleston’s fall 2022 president’s list. Gray’s major is undecided. To qualify for president’s list (highly distinguished), students must earn a GPA of 3.8 or higher and complete a minimum of 14 semester hours.

Rochester Institute of Technology

Dean’s list is announced

The following students were named to the dean’s list at Rochester Institute of Technology for the fall semester of the 2022-23 academic year. Full-time degree-seeking undergraduate students are eligible for dean’s list if their term GPA is greater than or equal to 3.4; they do not have any grades of “Incomplete,” “D” or “F”; and they have registered for and completed at least 12 credit hours.

University of Maryland Global Campus

Fry earns dean’s list

Justin Fry, of Northampton, was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at University of Maryland Global Campus. To be eligible for the honor, a student must complete at least six credits during the term, earned a GPA of at least 3.5 for the term and maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.5 at UMGC.

UMGC was established in 1947 to serve adults in the workforce. Today, the university enrolls some 90,000 students annually, offering bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree programs, as well as certificates in more than 125 fully online, hybrid and face-to-face programs and specializations.

UMGC has a long history of innovation in reaching students where they are, including as a pioneer of Internet instruction, piloting its first online classes in 1994. The university has received numerous awards for its groundbreaking work in developing fully online degree programs, including in high-demand fields such as cybersecurity, business, data analytics, health care and education.

UMGC now offers classes to military service personnel and their families at more than 180 locations in more than 20 countries. More than half of the university’s students are active-duty military personnel, their families, members of the National Guard and veterans.
