The Tamburitzans, “Phoenix: A New Dawn,” 4 p.m. April 2, Scottish Rite Cathedral, 1533 Hamilton St., Allentown. The Tamburitzans, now in its 86th year, is a nationally-known performance troupe that presents the folk cultures of eastern and western Europe through traditional music, dance and colorful folk costumes of each country or region represented in the show. The troupe’s performers and musicians are full-time students at colleges and universities in the greater Pittsburgh area. This year, 26 performers showcase the music, dance and cultures of Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Italy, Romania, Greece, Israel, the Alpine region of Austria and Slovenia, and Ukraine. The Tamburitzans was founded in 1937 at Duquesne University. The group’s name comes from the tamburas, Eastern European stringed instruments. Herman’s Hermits, starring Peter Noone, 8 p.m. March 31, Penn’s Peak, Jim Thorpe. Doors open at 6 p.m. Peter Blair Denis Bernard Noone is a multi-talented entertainer who has been delighting audiences nearly his entire life. He was born in Manchester, England, where he studied voice and acting at St. Bede’s College and the Manchester School of Music and Drama. As a child, he played Stanley Fairclough in the long-running British soap opera “Coronation Street.” At age 15, Noone achieved international fame as lead singer of the British pop band Herman’s Hermits. The group’s hits include “I’m Into Something Good,” “Mrs. Brown, You’ve Got A Lovely Daughter,” “I’m Henry VIII, I Am,” “Silhouettes,” “Can’t You Hear My Heartbeat,” “Wonderful World,” “Just A Little Bit Better,” “There’s A Kind of Hush,” “A Must To Avoid,” “No Milk Today,” “The End of the World” and “Leaning On A Lamp Post.” Herman’s Hermits has sold more than 52 million recordings, with 14 singles and seven albums going gold.
