Tree lighting ceremony at Brandywine Fire Station Nov. 30

During the Nov. 17 Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners meeting, Resolution 2022-78 was approved which modifies a previous plan for a dental office at 5502-5518 Hamilton Blvd. This is between Krocks Road and Village Round Road with Hamilton Crossings nearby.

Two residential buildings now stand in this location and the plan includes demolition of these buildings. A sidewalk is included. However, due to possible drainage problems, the sidewalk will stop on the eastern side for 8 feet. The resolution was approved.

Resolution 2022-74 is for modification of the Chick-fil-A drive-thru. The current drive-thru has excessive traffic congestion and this proposed modification will allow for a second canopy which has become prevalent, nationally, with this company. The resolution was approved.

There will be a tree lighting ceremony at the Brandywine Fire Station 6 p.m. Nov. 30.

Chris Cassidy from New Bethany Ministries wrote a letter of thanks for the grant donation. Amy Miller is not seeking reappointment to the planning commission. Scott Aquila is not seeking reappointment to the zoning hearing board. The board expressed their appreciation for their service.

The lease for the office of State Rep. Ryan MacKenzie, R-187th, in the township building was extended for two years.

There is a commercial area at 5531 Hamilton Blvd. which includes an Italian bakery and karate center. Behind the property is a residential area. The commercial property owner is attempting to create another entrance/exit to the area. There was a large grass berm to assist with water drainage. A section of this berm was removed to allow water to go into the alley. The water is not going into the basin as originally planned and is interfering with the residential area. The residential owners are looking for a solution with the ownership. This will be investigated further.

The 2023 budget has been posted for review. The budget should be adopted Dec. 16.
