Allentown Central Catholic High School athletes finish fall season

Last week included busy days for Central athletes, with District XI Finals for boys and girls soccer and volleyball.

Both soccer teams faced Northwestern in a doubleheader at Emmaus High School Nov. 3. Unfortunately, the Vikettes lost to Northwestern 2-3, but finished their season with an impressive record of 17-3-1.

The boys soccer team also fell to Northwestern 1-2. However, the boys continued to the state competition and faced the District 12 #1 seed Nov. 8.

The girls volleyball team placed second in the District XI 3A Finals at Catasauqua High School Nov. 3, after a successful season. The Vikettes were No. 3 out of the lehighvalleylive.com Top 10 teams. Only one senior was part of the team, showcasing the talent of many underclassmen. The future of Vikette Volleyball is bright!

Congratulations to Anna Farrell and Kylie Heinze chosen to be part of the Third Team All Doubles Eastern Pennsylvania Conference for girls tennis.

Members of the cross- country team earned an opportunity to compete at states after their last meet and ran at the PIAA Cross-Country Championships Nov. 5.

After losing to Bethlehem Catholic High School in the Holy War Oct. 28, the football team played Bangor in the first round of District XI playoffs at J. Birney Crum Stadium Nov. 4.

Congratulations to all our fall athletes!

The winter sports season is quickly approaching and winter sports registration closes Nov. 17. A current Family ID registration, a physical and an impact test are necessary to participate. Contact Christina Pelizzoni at 203-598-9683 with any questions.

Additionally, any seventh or eighth grade partner school basketball player must have their physicals and impact tests completed before their season and be registered on Family ID by Nov. 17. Anyone with concerns should call the athletic office at 610-437-4601, ext. 118.

College and career information sessions will be held for juniors 1:30 p.m. Dec. 8.

Students who attend will hear about an animal sciences dual-enrollment program at Lehigh Carbon Community College and a health care career program through Lehigh Career and Technical Institute. To register, go to Naviance under “College Visits.” More information can be found by clicking on the link in the weekly newsletter in your school email. This is a great chance to experience possible future college and career choices.

Anyone wishing to participate in Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science should see Mrs. Winchilla in Room 411 for the paperwork.

For any student who missed picture day or would like their picture retaken, picture retake day will be Nov. 29.

Last week, Viking Nation was proud to hear Central was named Niche’s #1 Best Catholic High School in the Allentown Area for the third year in a row.

After receiving the award, the Vikings are looking forward to the second quarter which began Nov. 7, which is sure to be filled with more achievements and excitement.
