Optimus Prime to attend touch a truck event Oct. 8

Salisbury High School students will have picture day Sept. 14 while students at Salisbury Elementary School will get their chance to smile for the camera Sept. 19. Please look for the flyer sent home, as packages are available to be pre- purchased from Christmas City Studios.

The next school board meeting is scheduled 7:30 p.m. Sept. 14 in the administration building.

SES will have an open house for students in grades two through four 7 p.m. Sept. 15. Use this time to come out and see what your students are doing in school and what the year holds for them.

All students in the district will have an early dismissal Sept. 16. Salisbury Middle School and SHS students will dismiss 12:15 p.m. while SES students will dismiss 1:15 p.m. For those SES students, please don’t forget to notify SES of any changes in dismissal procedures.

The Jerusalem Lutheran Church of Eastern Salisbury will hold a Penny Party Sept. 18. Doors open 1:30 p.m. and the fun starts 2 p.m. There are over 150 items up for purchase.

The Allentown Public Library is hosting a used book sale Sept. 23-24. The sale hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. There will be a large assortment of used books on all topics to choose from at the sale. If you love a great bargain, you have to check out this sale. All proceeds benefit the library. The Salisbury Township Recreation Committee is sponsoring a summer concert at Franko Park 4 p.m. Sept 24 with the band AM Radio. Bring your chair and blankets and enjoy a night of music with friends and neighbors.

Looking forward, you will want to save the date of Oct. 8. Eastern Salisbury Fire Department is hosting a touch a truck event 2-6 p.m. at SES. If you haven’t heard yet ... there will be an incredibly special guest truck. There will be a working replica of ... Optimus Prime. This is currently the only planned visit of Optimus in our area so make sure you check him out. Please note: Optimus will be surrounded by a barrier and it does not transform, but I promise you will not want to miss this opportunity.

The Devonshire drop-off location will be open for recycling drop off 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 15 and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 17.

The Franko Farm drop-off center will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 19 and 22 and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 24.
