Roughies Report: CHS students win at DECA competition

Forty members of Lehigh Career & Technical Institute’s Distributive Education Clubs of America chapter competed at the Pennsylvania DECA Career Development Conference in Hershey Feb. 15-18.

Congratulations to the following Catasauqua High School students who were among the top finishers at the state conference and have qualified for the International Career Development Conference in Atlanta this spring: Bryce Brotzman, restaurant full-serve management - Gold Written Test, Gold Role Play A and Promotional Campaign: first place; and Jorry Cene, human resources management - Gold Written Test, Gold Role Play A, Gold Role Play B and Plan of Action: first place.

Good luck to these students in Atlanta!

Each month, teachers at LCTI recognize students for outstanding effort, improvement, achievement or leadership in their career and technical education programs and academic center classes.

Congratulations to CHS student Jevon White (marketing and entrepreneurship) for being selected for the month of February.

Tickets for the CHS junior and senior prom can be purchased in Mr. Eamon Murray’s classroom, B217, for $75. Any junior or senior student who successfully participated in the World’s Finest Chocolate fundraiser is able to purchase their prom tickets at a discounted price of $60.

Cash and checks, made out to CHS Class of 2023, will be accepted.

CHS Digital Media Club is partnering with Catasauqua Police Department and The Elevate Foundation to conduct a community donation drive. Items collected will be used to make bags filled with fun activities and travel-sized products for patients at Lehigh Valley Reilly Children’s Hospital.

Items that can be donated toward the activity bags include coloring books, crayons, small crafts, stickers, small toys, clay, etc. Travel-sized toiletries can be toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, body wash, body and hand lotion, contact solution and cases and individually packaged items.

Items can be dropped off until March 31 at the police department, 90 Bridge St.
