I cannot believe we are nearing Thanksgiving break! The leaves are falling, or have fallen and things are so colorful ... and then there’s that brisk cold air, I could do without that! I hope everyone is able to take time over the upcoming holiday to be thankful for some of the important things this year.

On Nov. 24, all Salisbury Township schools will dismiss early. Students at Salisbury High School and Salisbury Middle School will dismiss 12:15 p.m. while students at Salisbury Elementary School will dismiss 1:15 p.m. Please make sure you adjust your bus stop timing accordingly and if there are any changes to pickup let those at SES know. All township schools will be closed Nov. 25-29 for the Thanksgiving break. School will resume Nov. 30.

SES students will return to one of the most exciting events at the school for the winter … the Holiday Shoppe! The shopping event will run Dec. 3-5 with opportunities for our youngest shoppers to get gifts for loved ones (or themselves ... let’s be honest!). Stay tuned for more information to be sent home from the SES PTO.

There are multiple township meetings being held Dec. 6. Starting with a reorganization meeting at the administration building 7 p.m. Following that will be the operations committee meeting and then the curriculum meeting.

SES will host a family math night 6 p.m. Dec. 8. Look for information to be sent home regarding this with your SES student.

Music is back in the district! The SHS Winter Choral and Instrumental Concert will be held 7-9 p.m. Dec. 2. Doors open to family and friends 6:30 p.m. All audience members must wear masks and are asked to sit with members of their own household. SHS Interact Club is hosting a family bingo night 7 p.m. Dec. 10 in the SMS cafeteria. The goal of this event is to provide toys for children at Lehigh Valley Reilly Children’s Hospital. There is a cost to attend or you can purchase and bring a toy from the wish list for one pack of eight bingo boards. Extra boards will be available. The SHS spring musical this year will be “RENT: School Edition.” Auditions will be held at SHS 2:30-5:30 p.m. Dec. 8, 9 and 10. Choose a half-hour slot and email director Shannon O’Grady at sogrady@salisburysd.org. Good luck to those auditioning.

The township yard waste sites continue to be open for your drop off needs; however, we are down to the wire! The Devonshire drop-off will be open 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 27 and the Franko Farm drop-off is now closed for the year. The Devonshire site will be closed Nov. 25 for Thanksgiving Day and Nov. 27 is its last open day for the year.
