John J. Kulhamer Jr.

John J. Kulhamer Jr., 96, of Bethlehem, died Nov. 10, 2021, while a recent guest at Holy Family Senior Living. He was the husband of the late Harriet E. (Williams) Kulhamer for 48 years.

He was a 1943 graduate of Whitehall HS.

He was in the U.S. Navy, and was aboard the U.S.S. Fitch in the North Atlantic and Pacific oceans, and participated in the bombing of Iwo Jima.

He was awarded the Platinum 75-year membership commendation from Fullerton American Legion Post 367, Whitehall, where he was the longest surviving Past Commander. He was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local #19 in the Lehigh Valley and worked for many companies. He was active with their retirees.

He played Legion baseball.

He is survived by a son, John III and his wife JoAnn (Angstadt) of Northampton; two grandsons, John IV “JJ” with Daana Brissett and Justin with Carrie Senior; two sisters, Vivian Moran with her husband Don of Oregon and Rita Kline; and a brother, Robert Kulhamer with his wife Mary Ann, all of Whitehall; JoAnn’s parents, Sandra and John Angstadt; nieces; nephews; and a large extended family.

He was predeceased by a brother, Vincent and his wife Marion; a brother-in-law, Richard Kline; and a nephew, Larry Kulhamer.
