Troopers and city police team up for joint patrols

Pennsylvania State Police Troop M and the City of Allentown Police Department announced May 19 they have begun joint patrols.

The patrols will continue throughout different dates during the summer months.

These proactive patrols will focus on deterring crime within the city, with emphasis on confiscating drugs and illegal guns.

“Troopers are proud to serve and always willing to assist anywhere within the commonwealth when requested,” said Capt. Joseph Sokolofski, commanding officer of Troop M.

Soon-to-be-leaving Allentown Police Chief Glenn Granitz Jr. commented on the joint patrols.

“Both Troopers and Allentown Police Officers will collectively work together for a safer Allentown for both residents and business owners alike,” said Granitz.

Allentown residents are reminded anonymous tips for criminal activity can be sent through tip411.com or by contacting the Allentown Police Department nonemergency number at 610-437-7751. For emergencies, dial 911.
