Northampton Community College

New learning modules launched

Northampton Community College has launched an initiative supporting K-12 educators teaching online or in the classroom. The program features innovative professional learning content from global leader Discovery Education.

The digital curriculum resources for K-12 classrooms-is comprised of seven online on demand learning modules. These units help current educators develop the skills needed to feel confident and successfully navigate the fully online or hybrid learning environment.

Topics such as online assessments, digital citizenship, fostering learner engagement, creating a sense of community and using technology to help meet individual learner needs are addressed.

Adenusi appointment program director

Cedar Crest College has appointed Bimpe (Bebe) Z. Adenusi, PhD, CRNA, as the nurse anesthesia program director,effective April 28, 2021. She was most recently a certified registered nurse anesthetist for Society Hill Anesthesia Consultants, Premier Anesthesia and NorthStar Anesthesia for Philadelphia region hospitals. She was an adjunct faculty member at Our Lady of Lourdes Nurse Anesthesia Program, Camden, New Jersey.

She earned a PhD from New Mexico State University. She earned a master of science in nursing, where she was valedictorian of her anesthesia class, at Our Lady of Lourdes Nurse Anesthesia Program (Drexel University). She earned a bachelor of science in nursing from Indiana State University.

She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists and the Pennsylvania Association of Nurse Anesthetists. She is the founder of the Nigerian American Nurse Anesthetists Association (USA) and treasurer of the Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas.

Ajmera to speak for Commencement May 14, 15

Cedar Crest College is honored to announce that Maya Ajmera, president and CEO of Society for Science and publisher of its award-winning magazine, Science News, will serve as speaker during the college’s 151st annual commencement.

The event will be held in two ceremonies May 14 and 15 at the PPL Center, downtown Allentown. Ajmera will receive an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Cedar Crest College also.

Penn State Lehigh Valley

PSU - LV wins first place in sustainability contest

A team of four Penn State Lehigh Valley students took home a $3,000 prize for winning first place in the Smeal Undergraduate Sustainability Case Competition held March 27. Penn State network teams were challenged to use business and markets to solve real-world social justice and environmental conservation challenges. The project used clean energy, climate change, urban renewal and/or rural economic development to address climate change while simultaneously providing economic benefits to low-income communities.

The teams were allotted one week after the case was released to educate themselves, conduct research and interview experts. The final round teams presented their strategy to a panel of judges that included leading sustainability and social impact executives.

Professor of Marketing, Dr. Denise T. Ogden was faculty mentor for the winning team of Hemil Patel (Project and Supply Chain Management), Simon Tomaszewski (Health Policy and Administration), Brianna Peters (Business Management/Marketing) and Ben Stratz (Finance and Pre-Med).

Moravian College

Office for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion hires two

Moravian College announced two new hires in the Office for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion as part of the college’s ongoing efforts to improve the campus climate and continue developing an inclusive community for all students, faculty, staff and alumni. Dr. Nicholas Creary will fill the role of Associate Provost of Academic Inclusion and Innovation and associate professor. Dr. Daisy Purdy will act as the Associate Provost of Community, Equity, and Engagement and also join the faculty as an assistant professor.
